I recently stayed at UP Sunrise Cottages and was pleased to find great daily rates. The cottage was well furnished and clean. We had a fireplace that made watching movies very cozy after a day of great snowmobiling. The owner's were very nice and helpfull. I will be returning again being this is one of the better places I have stayed. If you want to go snowmobiling the groomed trail number eight starts close by with a separate trail to keep from riding on the road. I would give UP Sunrise Cottages 5 stars.

Top notch service!!! Very responsive very helpful. Went up there to go snowmobiling; the absolute perfect place for that. Close to the trail. A bar/restaurant close. Got a text every day asking how things were and giving suggestions for food and different needs. Even brought hot cinnamon rolls one morning!!! Went above and beyond to help us out with a broken snowmobile that we had to leave there. Units are very comfortable, very clean, very nice and they’re doing improvements all the time!! I definitely will stay there again!!! Saw a wolf and a moose within 50 miles of that property!!

Our group stayed in cottages 4 and 6 for a week of snowmobiling. Great location where we were able to make loops in every direction. Plenty of parking for our rigs and close to gas and food. Awesome place to stay and exceptional trails.

Where are you located?

We are located in the central Upper Peninsula, less than a mile from Trail 8 in Little Lake. Trail 8 will connect you to anywhere you want to ride: Munising, Pictured Rocks, Marquette, Big Bay, Houghton, and so on. We are about 25 miles from Marquette, and about 40 miles from Munising.

Snowmobile map of the Central U.P.

How far are you from the snowmobile trails?

U.P. Sunrise Cottages is perfectly located for snowmobiling Central U.P.

You can ride right from your cottage to Trail #8 (see map) in less than two minutes along the shoulder of County Rd 456, with the option of riding the powerline right of way most of the way to the trail.

Is there food and fuel nearby?

The Throttle Bar and Grill, less than a mile from the resort, is popular for some post-ride grub (don’t forget to bring your snowmobile club sticker for the wall in the restroom).

About ten minutes away in Gwinn you will find fuel, a full grocery, two dollar stores, and several more restaurants.

PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, Brown’s Store in Little Lake closed at the end of summer 2023. Please plan accordingly to fuel up in Gwinn.

Do you have parking for snowmobile trailers?

We have plenty of pull-through parking available along our driveway. The cottages all have room to park at least two vehicles. Optionally, some of them have room to park a truck and trailer right at the cottage. Some guests prefer to park their sleds at the cottage and leave their truck and trailer in the pull-through parking.

Here is the parking available at each cottage.

Cottage Parking
#1 One truck with large trailer, or three trucks without trailers
#2 Park trailers in pull-through parking area
#3 Two trucks with short trailers
#4 One truck with medium trailer, or two trucks
#6 Truck and very large trailer or two trucks with smaller trailers
#7a Two trucks with medium trailers
#7b Truck with small trailer or two trucks
#8 Truck with medium trailer or two trucks
Sunset Point (Private cottage across the lake.) About 1-1/2 spaces are available in the 2-car garage. There is no pull-through for trailers, but you can do a 3-point turn with a trailer under 20 feet if your truck isn’t huge and park in front of the garage. Otherwise, unload snowmobiles at the end of the driveway and park your trailer at the resort.
